We have 2 pools. The Sarasota Sports Club pool is located within Country Club of Sarasota at 3600 Torrey Pines Blvd. When you arrive at the gate, please give your name and let guard know that you are going to the pool for swim lessons. After passing through the gate, make a right at the stop sign and your first left into the Club parking lot. The pool is located to the left of the main building.
The HealthFit pool is located at 5880 Rand Blvd. When you go in the main entrance, walk to your right, sign in at the front desk, and continue down the hall. The pool is at the end of the hall on your right.
How do I choose an appropriate class level for my child?
Beginner 1 classes are for children with no previous lesson experience, or for those who may have apprehension or fear around the water or when placed in a new environment. The curriculum is very similar to Beginner 2, but moves at a more conservative pace.
Beginner 2 classes are for children who have had lessons in the past or have spent a large amount of time in the pool and have no fear or apprehension around the water.
Begintermediate classes are for children who can swim/kick approximately 15 yards unassisted and are ready to learn beginner freestyle and learn how to take a breath and continue swimming.
Intermediate 1 classes are for kids who may be familiar with swimming strokes but are looking to improve them. Emphasis is on teaching and fine tuning freestyle and backstroke. Children should be able to swim 25 yards unassisted (dog paddle is fine!) before entering this class level.
Intermediate 2 classes are for kids who have a grasp of both freestyle and backstroke and are ready to add breaststroke and butterfly into the mix!
If you still feel unsure, feel free to reach out to us to schedule a free evaluation!
Do you travel to home pools?
Not usually, however if we have the staffing available to accommodate a request, we can try to make it happen!
Can you explain the amount I am being charged when I register for lessons/classes online?
Tuition is billed on a monthly basis for classes and lessons. If you sign up mid-month, you will be charged a prorated amount based on the number of classes remaining in that month ($25/class) Base rates are $100/month for classes ($25/class) and $140/month for private lessons ($35/lesson). Prorations also occur if there are more than 4 classes in a month (ex: There are 5 Fridays in March) or if we are closed for a holiday.
Do you have set sessions?
No. Our sessions are purely for planning purposes and allow us to make changes to the schedule based on season. Our lessons/classes are perpetual. We find that a set number of classes/lessons might be too many for a particular child and not enough for another child. Everyone learns at a different pace and has a different end goal. We graduate children to the next class level when they have mastered the skills of their current class.
How often should my child attend lessons?
We recommend trying to come more than once per week if your child has any level of fear or apprehension around the water. Otherwise, it is up to you! Obviously increased exposure leads to faster results, however we understand that people have complicated schedules.
What happens if I miss a class/lesson?
We allow one makeup per month. Makeup tokens are automatically generated in the Parent Portal upon absence from a class. Tokens may be redeemed in exchange for a makeup class via the Parent Portal. Tokens expire 30 days after issuance. We do not offer refunds for missed classes.
I would like to enroll for an ongoing class, but can't start right away - Can I reserve a spot?
Yep! After registering, just e-mail us with a requested start date. We change a "hold" fee of 50% of the cost of each class that will be missed.
